Partnering with The Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre and Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce. We will be hosting a conference developing knowledge around Gender-based analysis plus (GBA Plus), Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), and the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for employers, job seekers, and community leaders within the Humboldt Region. We are honoured to have Amber Parker, research coordinator and project lead from SAISIA (Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement and Integration Agencies) presenting on GBA plus. Representatives from SINP and LMIA will present, with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions. There will be Bhangra dancing, as well as various interactive activities throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided for those who have registered.
This event will encourage employers and other leaders in our communities to understand intersectionality and the importance of including marginalized voices and experiences when hiring and discussing social issues, community development, workplace policies, etc. Having our community leaders partake in this event is a vital step in creating spaces of welcoming and belonging. Having a welcoming region, community, work place, etc. and being educated on the different pathways newcomers can use to get here is crucial when it comes to recruiting and retaining people and employees in our communities.
